How
to find books
The seminary libraries own nearly 50,000 volumes which have been selected to support the curriculum. This is where you start your search. You will also need to know how to find and obtain books which are not in our libraries but which may be crucial to your research. We will cover that in another tutorial.
Searching the online catalog
Books in both libraries are included in our
online catalog. From
off campus, you will need first to access the library's
homepage (http://library.stjohnsem.edu),
then click on Library Catalog. On the next screen, click on the "search"
tab at the top of the page.
You can search by title, author, keyword, subject or combinations of those indexes. The following lessons demonstrate how to perform searches in the online catalog.

Lesson #2 Power search
Searching WorldCat
When you want to find books not owned by the seminary libraries, you need to
look in WorldCat, a large union catalog combining the holdings of thousands of
libraries across the world. The following lesson demonstrates how to use
this resource.
